eBay Receipt: How to Find and Print Order Details

Written by Sarah Jenkins, Content Writer. Reviewed by the BuildReceipts Editorial Team. Updated September 3, 2026.

To find an eBay receipt, sign in and open Purchase History. Find the item and choose View order details. On a computer, use your browser's Print menu to print the page or save it as a PDF.

If you bought as a guest, use the Order Confirmed email. It links to the order details. If that email is missing, eBay has a guest order form that can resend the link.

eBay calls this page order details, not always a receipt. It is the main buyer record for the order. If a business needs a tax invoice, you may still need to ask the seller.

Can you get a receipt from eBay?

eBay receipt paths for Purchase History, order email, guest recovery, and seller help

Yes. A signed-in buyer can open the order in Purchase History. A guest buyer can use the confirmation email or eBay's guest order recovery form.

After you find the real order facts, the ecommerce receipt tools can format a clear personal record. They cannot enter eBay, contact a seller, recover an order, or prove payment. A custom file is not an official eBay receipt or invoice.

Keep the buyer email, item name, seller name, order date, and total nearby. The order number helps too. eBay says its order number has 12 digits.

Use only eBay's website, app, or official emails. Never share your password, one-time code, full card number, or security code with a receipt lookup site.

How to find an eBay receipt in Purchase History

This path works for an order placed while signed in. Use the same eBay account that completed checkout.

Step 1: Sign in to the right eBay account

Open eBay and sign in. If you use more than one email, check which account received the order message.

Step 2: Open Purchase History

Choose My eBay, then Purchase History. This is the main page for past buyer orders and order details.

Step 3: Find the item

Look for the item, seller, date, and total. If it is old, change the date range or year instead of searching only the last 60 days.

Step 4: Open View order details

Choose View order details for the right item. Check the shipping address, order number, tracking details, item, and payment total shown there.

How to find an eBay receipt after guest checkout

A guest order does not appear in Purchase History. The email used at checkout is the key to the record.

Step 1: Search for the guest order email

Search the inbox for Order Confirmed, eBay, the item name, or the seller. Check spam, trash, and archived mail.

Step 2: Open View order details

Open the real eBay message and select View order details. Check that the item, address, date, and total match your purchase.

Step 3: Use guest order recovery if needed

If the email is gone, open eBay's Find guest order details form. Enter the purchase email or order number and submit the request.

Open the message eBay sends and keep it with your records. That link can also help you track the item, contact the seller, or start a return.

How to print or save an eBay receipt

Details to check before printing or saving an eBay order record as a PDF

Menu names can change, so use the order details page itself. You do not need to depend on an old Printer Friendly button.

Step 1: Open the full order details

Use a desktop browser when possible. Open Purchase History, find the item, and choose View order details.

Step 2: Check the page before printing

Make sure the item, seller, date, order number, shipping address, and total are visible. Expand any section that holds details you need.

Step 3: Open the browser print menu

On most computers, press Command + P on a Mac or Ctrl + P on Windows. You can also choose Print from the browser menu.

Step 4: Print or save as PDF

Choose a printer for paper. Choose Save as PDF for a digital file. Check the preview so no key order details are cut off.

How far back does eBay Purchase History go?

eBay says Purchase History holds orders from the past seven years. The page first shows recent orders, so an old item may look missing.

Use See orders from and choose the year. eBay also says an order can be hidden, but it cannot be permanently deleted from Purchase History. The hide option applies to items bought in the last 60 days.

If the listing itself has gone, check Purchase History and the order email. Those records can still hold the item details even when the public listing is no longer easy to find.

eBay order details vs email vs seller invoice

Each record has a different job. Do not call every page an invoice.

RecordWhat it helps showWhat may be missing
Order detailsItem, seller, order number, address, and trackingSeller tax or business invoice fields
Confirmation emailOrder time, item, estimated delivery, and order linkLater refund or tracking changes
Payment recordAmount sent and payment statusFull item and shipping details
Seller invoiceSeller billing details and item chargesIt may not be offered for every order

If the name of the record matters, this plain guide to invoice vs receipt explains the difference. Ask the person requesting the file which one they will accept.

What if you paid for eBay with PayPal?

Start with eBay because it holds the item and seller details. PayPal may hold the matching payment amount, status, and transaction ID.

Use the PayPal receipt guide to find that payment record. Keep both files when you need to show the order and the way it was paid.

The two records are not always the same. A PayPal payment does not promise that every eBay item, shipping line, or seller invoice field will appear.

What if one checkout has more than one seller?

One cart can hold items from more than one seller. Check each item in Purchase History. The order view may split the sale into parts.

Save the details that match each seller, item, and ship date. Do not use one seller's page as proof for another seller's item. If a bill is needed, ask the right seller.

An order number and an item number are not the same. eBay says each order gets a 12-digit order number. Each item also has its own item ID.

Can you use eBay order details for a return?

Purchase History is where signed-in buyers can open order options, contact the seller, or start a return. The seller's return terms and eBay rules still apply.

A guest buyer needs the order confirmation email to open the order and report a problem. Recover that email first if it is missing. Do not create a false receipt to start a return.

If no order record can be found, these lost-receipt recovery steps show how to keep emails, bank records, and support notes together. Those backups are not the same as an itemized seller receipt.

What should a real eBay order record show?

The details can include the item title, seller, buyer address, order date, 12-digit order number, price, shipping, tax, total, tracking, and payment details. The exact view can change by order and device.

Match more than one field. A bank charge alone may show an amount and payment name, but it does not show the item or seller terms.

How should you save the eBay record?

Give the PDF a clear name with the date, item, and order number. Put it in the same folder as the order email. This makes it much easier to find later.

Keep the first PDF as it came from the page. If you need to hide an address before you share it, make a second copy. Do not change the price, tax, date, seller, or order number.

Check the saved file once. Make sure the item and total can be read. If the print view is too small, raise the scale and save it again.

Final answer

Open My eBay, choose Purchase History, and select View order details. For a guest order, open the Order Confirmed email or use eBay's guest order recovery form.

Print the order details with your browser or save them as a PDF. Ask the seller if you need a special invoice. A custom record cannot replace the real eBay order record.
