Quick answer: Sign in to your Sam's Club account and open Purchase History. Find the order, choose See details, then print or download the receipt. You can also use the Sam's Club app.
Most members can view receipts from the last three years. If an older purchase is not shown, Sam's Club has a purchase history request. The company says it keeps up to eight years of purchase history.
This guide covers club, online, and Scan & Go purchases. It also explains old records, returns, and missing receipts in plain steps.

Can You Look Up a Sam's Club Receipt?
Yes. Sam's Club links many sales to your membership. The best lookup path depends on how you paid and where you checked out.
| Purchase typeWhere to lookWhat you need | ||
| In-club purchase | Account or app Purchase History | Membership sign-in |
| Online order | Account Purchase History | Membership sign-in |
| Scan & Go purchase | Receipts in the app | The app account used to pay |
| Purchase around 2.5 to 3 years old | Purchase History Request if it is not shown | Membership number, name, and date range |
| Purchase more than 8 years old | Other real records | Sam's Club says its history ends at 8 years |

How to Find a Sam's Club Receipt Online
Use this method for most online and in-club purchases tied to your membership.
Step 1: Go to Sam's Club and sign in to the account used for the sale.
Step 2: Open My Account. Under Orders, select History or Purchase History.
Step 3: Filter by year, purchase type, or return. You can choose online or in-club purchases.
Step 4: Find the order and select See details.
Step 5: Check the item, club, date, price, and total. Then select Print receipt near the top.
Sam's Club says the printed order can serve as a valid receipt. If the sale is missing, first make sure you signed in with the right membership.
How to Find a Sam's Club Receipt in the App
The app uses the purchase history tied to your membership. Button names can move after an app update, but the path stays under your account.
Step 1: Open the Sam's Club app and sign in.
Step 2: Tap Account, then open Purchase History.
Step 3: Pick the year or purchase type. Find the sale you need.
Step 4: Open the order details. Use the print, download, share, or export choice shown on your device.
If you cannot see Purchase History, update the app and sign in again. You can also use the website steps above.
Where to Find a Scan & Go Receipt
Scan & Go receipts are stored in the app. Sam's Club also says you can bring the digital receipt to the Membership Desk for a return.
Step 1: Open the same Sam's Club app account used at checkout.
Step 2: Go to your receipts or purchase history.
Step 3: Select the Scan & Go sale.
Step 4: Tap the export button at the top right. You can then print the exported receipt.
A screenshot can help you find the sale later. Keep the full digital receipt when you need item and tax details.
How to Print or Download the Receipt
Open the order and choose Print receipt. Your device will show the print window. Select a printer for paper, or choose Save as PDF to keep a file.
Use a clear file name, such as 2026-08-24-sams-club-office-supplies.pdf. If you save many business purchases, the steps in our guide to organizing receipts for taxes can help you keep each file with the right month and expense.
How Far Back Does Sam's Club Keep Receipts?
Two official help pages use slightly different cutoffs. One says account receipts are available for the last three years. Another says to contact support for requests that are 2.5 years or older.
The safe rule is simple: check Purchase History first. If a record around 2.5 to 3 years old is not there, send a Purchase History Request. Sam's Club says it keeps no more than eight years of purchase history.
| Age of purchaseBest actionOfficial limit | ||
| Recent to under 2.5 years | Use account or app history | Normally self-service |
| About 2.5 to 3 years | Check history, then request help if missing | Official pages overlap here |
| 3 to 8 years | Send a Purchase History Request | Support may need 7 to 10 business days |
| More than 8 years | Use other real records | Outside the stated history period |

How to Request Older Purchase History
Step 1: Check your online Purchase History first. This avoids a wait when the copy is already there.
Step 2: Open the official Purchase History Request page and use its contact link.
Step 3: Have your membership number, full name, and needed date range ready.
Step 4: Wait for the response. Sam's Club says these requests usually take 7 to 10 business days.
The company does not track item serial numbers in purchase history. If you need a serial number for a warranty, check the item, box, product record, or an old photo.
Can You Return an Item Without the Paper Receipt?
Sam's Club prefers the original receipt or printed order. Its current return page says staff will do their best to process a return without one. Approval is not promised.
Bring the item, all parts, packaging when possible, your membership card, and photo ID. A digital receipt from Purchase History or Scan & Go is better than no record. Some products have short windows or no-return rules, so check the current Sam's Club return policy.
Common Sam's Club Receipt Lookup Problems
| ProblemSimple fix | |
| The sale is not in history | Check the right membership, year, and purchase filter |
| The purchase is around 3 years old | Use the older Purchase History Request |
| A Scan & Go receipt is missing | Open the app account used to pay and check its receipts |
| The print button does not work | Try another browser or export from the app |
| You need a serial number | Check the item or box because purchase history does not track it |
| The receipt is more than 8 years old | Use other real proof because it is past the stated history limit |
If the official copy is still missing, follow our full lost receipt recovery guide. A card line, email, product photo, or warranty file may help, but the person reviewing the claim makes the final choice. Our guide to proof of purchase without a receipt explains these limits.
Important Fields on a Sam's Club Receipt
Check the copy before you use it for a return, budget, or work record.
| FieldWhy it matters | |
| Club or order channel | Shows where the sale happened |
| Date and time | Helps match the purchase |
| Transaction or order number | Links the receipt to one sale |
| Item name, number, and quantity | Shows what was bought |
| Price, savings, tax, and total | Explains the amount paid |
| Payment details | Helps match the card or payment type |
| Membership details | Connects the sale to the member account |
How BuildReceipts Can Help With a Personal Record
If the official copy is gone, the Sam's Club receipt template can help you organize facts you already know. Add only real details from your card line, notes, item, or email.
BuildReceipts cannot search Sam's Club systems or confirm a sale. A custom document is not an official Sam's Club receipt or valid proof of purchase. Never use one as false proof for a return, warranty, tax claim, work expense, or ownership check.
Conclusion
Start with Purchase History in your account or app. Open the sale, check the details, and print or save the receipt. For an older record that is no longer shown, send a Purchase History Request with your membership number, name, and date range.
Use the merchant copy when proof is required. A personal copy can help you organize known facts, but it cannot replace Sam's Club records.
